First off we have the Swallotail Shawl from the Fall 2006 IK, made in Knitpicks Alpaca Cloudwhich is a dream to work with. I love knitting lace, there is something extremely satisfying and soothing about all those yarnovers and what not...however I can't really pull off the lace look myself. So when a friend of mine was thumbing through my knitting mags and said "omg I could totally see myself wearing this" I took a mental note, as her birthday was coming up. Lace is fun to knit, not so fun to block...especially since I didn't have (actually hadn't even heard of) blocking wires...all those little points were individually stretched and pinned then re-stretched and pinned. I hate blocking. But I am pleased with the end result...behold!
